Catholic cathedral under siege by Islamic rebels in Central African Republic

Rebels of the Seleka militia have surrounded the Catholic cathedral in Bambari, in the Central African Republic, the Fides news service reports.

The Islamic rebels reportedly fired on the cathedral complex and laid siege to the area. Fides reported that accurate news was difficult to obtain, because phone lines into Bambari had been severed.  Read more:
