Evil knows no bounds when Catholics remain silent...

TFP and America Needs Fatima members and supporters are sometimes criticized for their protests or, "rallies of reparation."  Those who are critical occasionally contact or confront us, telling us that we are making a big deal out of nothing. 

Or, they criticize us for not being silent.  They believe that silence will prevent these blasphemies or offensive displays from spreading further.

    Of course we believe that nothing could be farther from the truth. 

    America Needs Fatima was able to hold  a couple of protests against the "bodies" exhibits that traveled across the world a year or so ago.  We firmly believe that it is necessary to publicly oppose such offensive, barbaric and even satanic displays.

    Our supporters in Kansas and Missouri, encouraged by the brave and firm statements of the two Bishops of Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri held a public rally of reparation in front the exhibit there.

    Students and faculty from our, St. Louis De Montfort Academy also held a similar rally in Harrisburg, PA.

    Those who opposed the rallies, asked, "how could we be opposed to science and education?"  We are opposed to the desecration of the dead which is contrary to Catholic morality.  The furtherance of science and education does not justify the macabre display of pregnant women, the elderly and political prisoners from China.

Just recently, according to Breitbart.com, the creators of these exhibits have reached a new low, so low that it is almost too offensive to describe.  Describe we must, as circumspectly as we can.  Evil does not disappear by ignoring it.

    According to Breitbart.com, Gunther Von Hagen recently opened a new exhibit in Berlin called, "The Cycle of Life."  Sounds innocent enough doesn't it? 

    The exhibit, "offers a deep understanding of the human body, the biology of reproduction, and the nature of sexuality."  In other words the exhibit depicts the dead, placed in postures of sexual acts.

    This demonstrates to me loud and clear that if one does not stand up at the beginning when such evils are presented to society, evil becomes only bolder and will rapidly descend to new lows.

    If all of the Catholic parishes in the United States had risen up in opposition to this exhibit when it first came out, perhaps it would have never taken place, but since reaction among public opinion was weak, those who promote such sinful displays become emboldened.

    It is similar to temptation.  When the devil tempts a soul living in the state of sanctifying grace, he has greater difficulty in causing that soul to fall.  The resistance to Lucifer is even greater if the soul makes use of the sacraments and sacramentals of the Church. The devil's defeat in this particular battle is complete when the soul is consecrated to and calls upon the name of Mary.

    But, when the soul is in a state of mortal sin, or if the soul does not make use of the vast arsenal of spiritual weapons available, or if his devotion to Mary is non-existent or tepid, then the likelihood of sinning is much greater.  Or, if the soul does not avoid occasions of sin, the devil will not have to apply great efforts to cause his fall.

    So, if we love the commandments of God and of His Holy Church and, if we love Our Lady whose pure and incorruptible and glorified body was assumed into heaven, let us stand up to those who would mock Our Lord and Our Lady.  They desecrate that which are God's most treasured possessions, men.

    Such exhibits wave the fist at God, by proclaiming, "see what we can do to your most treasured creation."

    Let us resolve to resist each and every evil that we face each and every day.  If we are in a situation where we cannot actively do something because of our health or other legitimate concerns let us at least offer prayers of indignation and reparation.  Let us also support and pray for those who do take the fight to the front lines of public opinion where the angels dwell.

"It's like seeing the world through a whole new prism..."

A friend once told me this after reading Revolution and Counter-Revolution.  And I agree.

                                

But this book is not for everyone.   It's for people who want to get a keen and deep grasp of what's happening in today's world in order to fight the process of evil that is destroying our society.

Comfort zone people need not even open this book.

For this very reason it is a resistance without any great importance, one that will die with the individual. If it should occur in a social group, sooner or later, by violence or persuasion, the Revolution inexorably will dismantle it in one or several generations."

Another of my favorite parts of the book shows how the Revolution must be seen as a process:

This crisis is not a spectacular, isolated episode. It constitutes, on the contrary, a critical process already five centuries old. It is a long chain of causes and effects that, having originated at a certain moment with great intensity in the deepest recesses of the soul and the culture of Western man, has been producing successive convulsions since the fifteenth century. The words of Pius XII about a subtle and mysterious enemy of the Church can fittingly be applied to this process:

It is to be found everywhere and among everyone; it can be both violent and astute. In these last centuries, it has attempted to disintegrate the intellectual, moral, and social unity in the mysterious organism of Christ. It has sought nature without grace, reason without faith, freedom without authority, and, at times, authority without freedom. It is an "enemy" that has become more and more apparent with an absence of scruples that still surprises: Christ yes; the Church no! Afterwards: God yes; Christ no! Finally the impious shout: God is dead and, even, God never existed! And behold now the attempt to build the structure of the world on foundations which we do not hesitate to indicate as the main causes of the threat that hangs over humanity: economy without God, law without God, politics without God.^[3]

This process should not be viewed as an altogether fortuitous sequence of causes and effects that has taken place unexpectedly. Already at its inception, this crisis was strong enough to carry out all its potentialities. It is still strong enough to cause, by means of supreme upheavals, the ultimate destructions that are its logical outcome.

Influenced and conditioned in different ways by all sorts of extrinsic factors (cultural, social, economic, ethnic, geographic, and others), it follows paths that are sinuous at times. It nonetheless never ceases to progress toward its tragic end.

Taking Fatima Seriously: Great Book on Fatima Miracle of the Sun

America Needs Fatima has republished John Haffert’s 1960 book, Meet the Witnesses, which contains the most complete collection of eyewitness testimonies to the Miracle of the Sun, in Fatima, ever made.

In an era of rationalism and doubt, this is the book’s unique contribution to the many volumes written on Fatima. However, since the unfortunate death of Sister Lucy in 2005, Meet the Witnesses has become even timelier.

For decades, Sister Lucia’s very presence within the cloistered walls of her convent had reminded millions of Fatima and Our Lady’s requests: daily recitation of the rosary, sacrifice for the conversion of sinners, abandonment of sin, the Five First Saturdays devotion and reparation for the offenses committed against her Immaculate Heart. Sister Lucia’s presence also reminded Catholics worldwide of the chastisement that Our Lady predicted would ensue if her requests were not heeded.

Despite this reminder, people did not reform their lives. A consideration of the general decline of morals since 1917 begs the question: “Will the world have to be chastised before people will change?”

If so, it is good to think back to October 13, 1917. Three months earlier Our Lady had promised Lucia a miracle “so that all might see and believe.” The news had spread throughout Portugal and over 70,000 people traveled to the Cova da Iria to see what would happen. Atheists and probably even some Catholics ridiculed the “credulous” and “gullible” pilgrims.

In spite of these chides, Our Lady did work a miracle. Though some may have expected wonderful cures like those she worked at Lourdes, Our Lady astonished the crowd with a miracle so terrifying that many thought the end of the world had come.

The sun unexpectedly spun all over the sky and even plummeted towards the earth. Professor Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira, founder of the first TFP, wondered if the Miracle of the Sun might not indicate the magnitude of the chastisement unrepentant mankind is bringing on itself. Might other things “spiral” out of control and threaten the world with total destruction?

To encourage reflection on this miracle and hence on the Fatima message, we are offering Meet the Witnesses. The personal accounts it contains bring the Miracle of the Sun to life. They vividly project the image of the sun spinning in the sky and nearly crashing to earth. They cause readers today to echo the cry of the witnesses. In the depths of their souls, they too exclaim, “We believe!”

Today, the book has become even more valuable, since God has called to Himself most of the witnesses Mr. Haffert interviewed.

Pelusa is as good as “freshly baked bread,” works hard and never complains. One day she finds an old faded doll whom she names Angelina. She dresses her as best she can, making the inanimate toy the companion and confidante of her lonely life.

One day as Pelusa sits with Angelina on the steps of the house while Cobwebs goes to mail a letter in town she sees a beautiful family approaching.

Unbeknownst to her, Jesus, Mary and Joseph have come to pay her a visit.

Noticing how tired and hungry they are, she receives them graciously and serves them some soup that was boiling on the wooden stove.

Here the “magic” begins to work in Pelusa’s life, as Fr. Coloma introduces the “Protecting Prince” in the person of Saint Joseph, the fairy godmother in the person of Holy Mary and the “Magical Wand” in the tiny hand of baby Jesus.

As soon as the Holy Child spots Angelina, He holds her in one hand, and with a “wave” of His blessed fingers not only restores her paint and fixes her broken leg, but brings her to life!
Pelusa claps, Angelina dances and all is joyful.

The Blessed Lady then informs wide-eyed Pelusa of the existence of her two beautiful parents and assures her that Angelina will lead her to them. This leads to exciting adventures with many obstacles, dangers and moral lessons.

Tender yet powerful, the masterful pen of Fr. Coloma manages to convey to a young child the complete idea of the Christian journey on earth and what it takes to get to our final destination, Heaven.

Join the rosary rally tradition in Ohio

On Saturday, May 16, 2009, TFP-America Needs Fatima will begin its third year of uninterrupted Public Square Rosary Rallies. 

Each month for the past two years, we have had the grace to gather together on the Saturday closest to the thirteenth to honor Our Lady's apparitions at Fatima.

Please join us again on Saturday, May 16, at 12 noon, to commemorate the first apparition.  It will be in Brecksville on the square, at the junction of route 82 and route 21.
