Please see this incredible photo of a small shrine of Our Lady of Graces standing upright and unharmed amid the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

  1. Thank you for sharing this picture. Seeing this made me think of how many times we see photos like this. Many, many times in places where great destruction has occurred. I think we should take note when we see them for the images suggest something about our Blessed Mother even if one does not have particular devotion to her. Our Lady's statues and other images always seem to "survive" even while everything around her is decimated. God permits her images to be preserved. Really though this is no surprise...from the beginning of time God told us that she and her seed, Jesus, would crush the head of the serpent (Gen. 3:15). Now that's one tough Mama! All thanks to God for making her this way and also for giving her to us as our Mother (Jn. 19:26-27)! May our beautiful Mother Mary intercede for all those affected by Hurricane Sandy, and for our entire country as we approach what likely is the most important election in this nation's history.
