7 Reasons to Reject GOProud at CPAC

7 Reasons to Reject GOProud at CPAC

On March 14, 2013, the Competitive Enterprise Institute is sponsoring a panel at CPAC entitled, “A Rainbow on the Right: Growing the Coalition, Bringing Tolerance Out of the Closet” and it features a pro-homosexual speaker from GOProud.

While this panel is not part of CPAC’s program, it nevertheless gives GOProud an unofficial presence at the nation’s largest conservative conference.

The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property—TFP, together with countless Americans, opposes this attempt to divide America’s conservative movement and foment social acceptance for sinful homosexual acts.

1. GOProud Creates Divisions

GOProud’s claim to fame appears to be its capacity to create controversy and division among the growing ranks of America’s social conservatives who have delivered numerous electoral victories over the past three decades. Liberal media has taken notice of the CEI panel, and, as auxiliaries to the homosexual movement’s revolutionary psywar,[1] they have been quick to exploit the “GOProud at CPAC controversy,” trying to portray it as a major schism within the conservative movement. The reality is very different. GOProud has no projection in the movement.

2. GOProud and Planned Parenthood

GOProud cofounder Chris Barron has openly worked against core conservative principles. In 2005, Mr. Barron worked for the country’s largest pro-abortion organization, Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Moreover, as the political director of the Log Cabin Republicans, he lobbied against the Federal Marriage Amendment, which defends the true definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. His anti-conservative record further includes work to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in our Armed Forces.

3. When We Surrender Moral Principles We Betray America’s Ten Commandments Heritage
However, the worst effect of this controversy is not the appearance of conservative disunity. It is the illusion that conservatives can separate their legitimate concerns on defense, government’s proper role and size, illegal immigration, economic or fiscal policy choices from a moral bedrock.

In a stroke of genius, Ronald Reagan compared the conservative movement to a three-legged stool, with defense, fiscal, and social conservatives each being a leg. This stool will not stand without its moral leg.

TFP to CPAC - Don’t Betray Principles

By including those who reject an objective moral law into the conservative movement, we work against ourselves since we invite into our ranks those whose lack of principles will erode and destroy the very core principles for which we fight.

Thus, while conservatives have every right to concentrate their individual efforts in one or more specific fields, we strongly disagree with those who aid and abet militant secularism’s goal of excluding morality from the non-negotiable core principles of the conservative movement and society. When we surrender our moral principles, we betray America’s Ten Commandments heritage.

4. Moral Compromise Helps Socialism
Knowingly or not, when we make moral concessions or surrender our moral values altogether, we are aiding the socialist agenda. By denying individual responsibility, socialism destroys the foundation for all morality. Thus, for socialism there are no absolute truths or objective morals that establish standards of conduct that apply to everyone, everywhere, and always. Everything evolves, including right and wrong, good and evil. There is no place for the Ten Commandments, be it in the individual soul, be it in the public square.

5. A Permissive Culture Leads to Socialism
Whether embraced by liberals or conservatives, a permissive, “free love” culture is completely consistent with socialist thought since it separates sexual acts from their natural end. Indeed, wherever socialists have taken power, they have always favored the subversion of morality. By its own logic, socialism will always lead to a morally-depraved and fiscally irresponsible society. And, in its turn, a morally permissive society tends to socialism.

6. Conservatives Must Resist the Homosexual Movement’s Psywar
By including those who reject an objective moral law into the conservative movement, we work against ourselves since we invite into our ranks those whose lack of principles will erode and destroy the very core principles for which we fight. The American TFP calls on all CPAC participants to strengthen the conservative movement by rejecting any attempt to separate it from the natural moral law. We must stand firm in face of the homosexual movement’s overwhelming pressure and its psywar efforts to divide the conservative movement and force its agenda upon us and society. We must not allow ourselves to be cowed into silence by liberal media. We must never surrender our moral principles.

7. Unprincipled Politics Always Fail
In our decisions, we must not make the mistake of striving to please men while offending God. Unfortunately, there are those who think that by being “inclusive” or “politically correct” we might garner greater public acceptance. These win neither the approval of the Left nor the support of the Right. Rather, they bring upon themselves the scorn of all since no one respects those who abandon their principles.

Spiritually, when we surrender our moral principles, we forego our birthright and God’s blessing: “He that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 10:33). May this never happen to us. Rather, let us strive to be faithful. In doing so, we can be assured of the ultimate victory of our cause, for Our Lord always keeps His word: “Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matt. 6:33).

“b. to divide at every step, disarticulate, isolate, terrorize, defame, persecute, and block its adversaries.
