Report from a Rally Captain and Campaign Office Volunteer from Idaho
Rally participants fight against the wind to keep the banner straight in Topeka, Kansas.
We received a report from Mrs. Maureen Coon from Idaho who went to great lengths, not only to organize her own rally, but also to enlist other organizers. Mrs. Coon was one of the first group of volunteers to help at our campaign office in Kansas.
Mrs. Coon personally contacted over 50 parishes to promote the Public Square Rosary Campaign. She put 20 plus potential captains in touch with our volunteer office. She also ran an ad in her diocesan newspaper listing the locations of all of the rallies.
On the day of the rally it was cold, in the 30's, with wind chill temperatures in the 20's, accompanied by strong winds. This did nothing to discourage Mrs. Coon. She and her participants brought coats, hats and blankets. Only one person left early.
Many who attended the rosary rally commented to Mrs. Coon that even though they were cold they were very impressed with the two hour rally.
The rally concluded with sandwiches, fruit, hot coffee and hot chocolate as well as with warm hearts.
There is a certain holy envy that I have when reading about rosary rallies like Mrs. Coon's, for the true test of love for Our Lady is sacrifice.
