Shocker: Catholic College Approves "Educational" Drag Show Despite Peaceful Protest

In four days, over 7,025 students and parents have signed a respectful petition, urging the Jesuit-run Le Moyne College in upstate New York not to host its second annual "drag show" scheduled on March 10.

Sign your protest here.

A TFP Student Action supporter sent us a copy of her letter to Le Moyne College president, Dr. Pestello, as well as his reply to share with our readers.

Here is the exchange:

Letter opposing the pro-homosexual "drag show"

It has come to our attention that you are planning a drag show during Lent of all times, when we are to prepare ourselves, uniting ourselves more fully to Christ, as His every step takes Him nearer to Calvary, towards His cruel punishment and death on the Cross.

Meanwhile you encourage such an outrageous event that goes entirely against the Gospel and teaching of the Church…

How highly purity is valued by our God.  Inspire our young people and promote this waning virtue to your best ability.  Aim for the high road.  Why take your students down into the sewer.  Is this not a betrayal?  First of all you go against your Catholic identity; the parents who send their children to a Catholic institution are doing so at a great expense and often sacrifice, believing they are giving their children the best possible.

You offend Almighty God grievously.

Those are enough points for you to reconsider this.  Do what you are there to do; teach the truth.

Le Moyne President's Response

Dear Ms. Hamilton -

Thank you for writing to express your concerns. Le Moyne College believes that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. The intent of the March 10 performance is educational in nature and far from lewd. The group asserts the messages of respecting diversity, caring for others' individuality and respecting the dignity of all persons. After thoughtful review, we believe that permitting the student event of which you have raised concerns is entirely consistent with the statements of The Holy Father Francis as expressed in the recent interview he granted America Magazine, as well as the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium.

Sincerely,

Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D.

President

  1. These two letters should be forwarded to Pope Frances. I believe EVERY Jesuit university in this country has a gay week or something equivalent to their shame. I do not think the Holy Father even knows about this
