Why the Rosary Should be Prayed in the Public Square; Pray for Mr. Negrelli; Saint Joseph caravan update...

Part II – In order to convert our nation, public prayer and apostolate are necessary.

As Our Lord tells us in the gospels, we should not hide our light under a bushel basket.

If we truly believe in the absolute truth of our Catholic Faith, we should have an intensely strong desire to bring others to that Faith.

During the July 13th apparition of Our Lady at Fatima in 1917 she taught the three children the following prayer, “O Jesus, this is for Thy love, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

The Public Rosary is a way to loudly proclaim Our Love for Our Lord and for the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to offer our public rosary for the conversion of sinners.

During the last public apparition of Our Lady during the miracle of the sun, tens of thousands converted including communists and hardened sinners. Are we not confident that Our Lady can give the same overwhelming grace to the multitudes in our society? The public rosary is a manner of insisting with Our Lady. I believe that on October 11th, 2008, Our Lady will respond with many graces because of the humble insistence of all the rally captains and those who participate in the public square rosary. In other words, the public square rosary is our way of telling Our Lady that we are holding this public rosary because we love Her so much and that we desire to bring souls to Her, so that they might take advantage of Her mercy.

Besides the public prayer to Our Lady the presence of devout souls is an apostolate to the general public. No one who sees a group of people praying the rosary in a public place will pass by without noticing. If we unite our prayers and actions with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, those souls can be touched by Our Lady and moved.

Please pray for the soul of Mr. Negrelli

For years, Mr. Negrelli had been heading the Apostolate of the Association of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Brazil.

He died this morning.

His work touched the souls of millions of Brazilians and has inspired people in other countries to also spread this vital devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Saint Joseph Caravan in Downtown Sacramento

This morning we made our way down to the State Capitol building in Sacramento and stationed ourselves outside one of its busy entrances used by state legislators and workers. Our large banner reading “Californians Support Traditional Marriage” was visible to all passersby and the bagpipes and slogans rang out attracting attention.

On one side of the street there was a line of cabs and a number of their drivers gathered under the shade of a tree. They watched us for a while and one of them, after receiving a flier, remarked: “God commands. When men disobey, He punishes. That’s why we have AIDS.”

A while later, a tall gentleman in a suit, approached, introduced himself, opened his briefcase and handed me a copy of the book “Revolution and Counterrevolution” by Plinio Correa de Oliveira, the founder of the TFP. “Are you familiar with this book?” he asked.

We had a pleasant conversation and he lamented how many Catholic bishops in California are not vocally opposing same-sex “marriage” and suggested we visit diocesan Cathedrals to encourage Church authorities to openly speak out.

A pro-homosexual individual told Mr. Peter Miller: “you should all rot in Hell!” Another anti-family values advocate called Mr. Charles Sulzen a Nazi as he played the bagpipes. He asked: “when was the last time you saw a Nazi playing the bagpipes?” She left without answering, of course.

Afternoon campaign: Elk Grove

After lunch we went to a busy intersection in Elk Grove. On each corner we held signs, adding one that says “God’s marriage = 1 man + 1 woman” in additional to the “honk for traditional marriage” ones. Within a few hours, an estimated 2,000 cars honked in support of traditional marriage.

This favorable reaction infuriated those who wish to harm the sanctity of marriage. For example, a car with three angry girls, circled the block throwing stink bombs at each group of TFP volunteers. Our Lady’s protection was apparent because none of the stink bombs hit any of our members and the campaign continued without pause.

Tomorrow, we will visit American River College which has over 35,000 students. Please pray for our trip there.
Saint Joseph, pray for us!
