Senate Chamber expresses splendor of aristocratic governance

File:Senate of Canada.jpg

This is a photo of the Chamber of Canadian Senate, which is part of the Parliament of Canada.

At first sight this chamber inspires awe and respect.  Visitors speak in hushed and subdued voice here.

There is a happy union of gravity, light and golden splendor in this magnificent chamber, which is proper to the aristocratic role of the Senate in government.

The Queen’s throne is the chamber’s center, and the main focus of attention.  And rightfully so.

Contrast the photo of the Canadian Senate Chamber with the Senate of Brazil, which is located in the very modern capitol city of that country, Brasilia.

There is a strong egalitarian note in the Brazilian Senate room, which is in sharp contrast the aristocratic aura we see in the Canadian Senate Chamber.

Which chamber do you prefer?

  1. I'm Canadian.... so I don't really have a choice, do I? LOL.... All in all, independent of country, I'd still go for the Canadian senate chamber. I only hope that the laws and legislations passed in that room reflect the nobility, beauty and righteousness of is architecture.
