December 28 -- The Feast of the Holy Innocents

The Holy Innocents are venerated as martyrs even though it does not seem that they merited martyrdom.  God chose by an act of pure Goodness to deem this so.  They earned the crown of martyrdom because in a mystical way they had a share in the mysteries of the Divine Infancy.

By the merits of the Redemption, these children earned Heaven by the baptism of blood.  Children who die shortly after Baptism also inherit eternal life in Heaven.  But today, many children are not baptized because of parent’s indifference.

Even worse, the sin of abortion robs countless souls the benefits of the sacrament.  This fact alone should make us fight unceasingly against this monstrous sin.

Many families have a child who has died in infancy shortly after Baptism.  The Church teaches that these fortunate little ones are in Heaven enjoying the Beatific Vision.  They are the perfect and most efficient patrons for the families that love them.

Why not ask them to intercede for us , to pray for us and to help  us in our difficulties?
