Devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and the loss of good manners

December 12 -- Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Some know about the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  But here’s a highlight, a dialogue between Our Lady and Juan Diego worthy of special attention.

Our Lady refers to Juan Diego as "her little son" or "my dear little one" and Juan responds with " my holy one, my Lady ", "noble Lady" or "most loved Mistress".

The exchange is mannerly, loving and courteous, an
interchange that can only exist where true virtue reigns.  Catholic
courtesy developed and cultivated in the Middle Ages gradually faded as rudeness of manners and egalitarian ideas grew popular.  The loss of good manners and correct behavior mirrors the total loss of a Catholic sense.

Our Lady appeared at Guadalupe almost 500 years ago not only to convert millions of Indians, but also to us today who are lost and abandoned in this modern "culture".

She speaks today as she spoke to Juan Diego:

"Listen to what I am going to tell you, my son(daughter), and let not your heart be disturbed.  Do not fear plague or any other sickness or anguish.

“AM I NOT HERE, WHO AM YOUR MOTHER? ARE  YOU NOT UNDER MY PROTECTION AND CARE? AM I NOT
YOUR LIFE AND HEALTH? ARE YOU NOT IN THE FOLDS OF
MY MANTLE AND THE EMBRACE OF MY ARMS? WHAT
ELSE DO YOU NEED? DO NOT BE GRIEVED OR DISTURBED
BY ANYTHING."

She is our Mother who will not orphan us.  She is Patroness of the Americas!

To trust Our Lady’s words is to give ourselves to Her entirely, without reservation, according to the method of St. Louis de Montfort outlined in his Treaties True Devotion to Mary.
