March 20 -- St. Wulfran, Archbishop
St. Wulfran, the son of St. Bathlides and King Clotaire III, was born in the seventh century in France. He was consecrated Archbishop of Sens in 682.
His great zeal and sanctity attracted multitudes of people but they were given to idolatry. Several times, St. Wulfran actually brought victims of the idols back to life. Needless to say, he converted many souls who witnessed these miracles. However, a certain King named Radbod, asked him where his ancestors and courtiers were in the next world.
St. Wulfran replied that hell is the resting place of all who die guilty of idolatry.
Stubbornly, the king refused baptism and died shortly after.
Today, it would be unheard of to kill someone as an offering to a god. Yet, abortion of millions of children is the law of the land. How different is this heinous crime from the idolatrous killing in St. Wulfran's time?
St. Wulfran prayed but he also confronted the heathens courageously.
Let us ask him for the courage to face the errors of modern society whether it be the killing of babies or the killing of souls by allowing the mediocrity of principles.
