This saint did in his manhood what most people do on their deathbed

                     March 21   --  St. Enda

St. Enda was a warrior king from the 5th century.  He bravely fought his enemies for the good of his people.

Having distinguished himself on the battlefield, he returned home victorious and in search of a wife.  When he saw his chosen spouse dead lying in her coffin in the flower of her youth, the reality of life and death brought him to his senses.

His sister, St. Franchea, convinced him to give his life to God and encouraged his vocation to the priesthood.  After ordination, St. Enda returned to Ireland and founded the great monastery at Aran, which formed many Irish saints.

Life is short.

Unfortunately for most people this thought only strikes them on their deathbed.  Many live an entire lifetime without reflecting on the fleeting moments that pass in an instant.

Let us ask St. Enda to think seriously about our death so that we may act and pray to make our life worthwhile.
