CWN - November 05, 2012 -- Addressing the bishops of France, Cardinal André Vingt-Trois of Paris called for opposition to the proposed legalization of same-sex marriage in France.
“Contrary to what is presented to us, the draft law on marriage is not simply a generous opening of marriage to new classes of citizens; it is a transformation of marriage that affects everyone,” he said. “It would not be ‘marriage for all’ (a strange slogan that should probably not be taken literally!). This would be the marriage of some imposed on all. The consequences for marital status are sufficiently eloquent: has anyone asked citizens if they agreed to no longer be the father or mother of their child and become a parent undifferentiated relative A or parent B?” See more here:
