The Superiority of the Medieval Spirit

The supernatural courage of the crusader that drives forward is the cutting edge of fortitude. What incredible power and strength!

Behind this courage is a sort of beginning of the beatific vision that baptism gives us.  This is faith.

A beginning of the beatific vision is present in the medieval spirit.

And it is not present in all other systems, schools, etc.  From this we see the fundamental superiority of the medieval spirit over other things.

The medieval spirit gives us the sense that our fingertips somehow touch the base of God’s throne.

But, we can go further still.  The medieval spirit produces in our souls the unique sensation of being assumed. In other words, it overwhelms, penetrates, fills and elevates us.

It makes us feel that an elevator has raised one up and that we are somehow being assumed by the medieval spirit.  As we become assumed, we live life on a level that has something of heaven. Because when we are assumed by the supernatural we feel something of heaven.

This is a fruit of the Middle Ages.
