Be a faithful citizen, join a rosary rally
To find a rally near you
To find a rally nearest you in Hawaii, visit www.americaneedsfatima.org or call the national toll-free number 1-866-584-6012. Or you may call Hawaii organizer Valerie Elefante at 372-9043, or e-mail her at valelefante@yahoo.com.
At noon on Oct. 11, at more than 15 public locations across the state, the rosary will be prayed by groups in reparation for the “sins of abortion, homosexuality, impure fashions and immoral laws” in the United States.
The rosary rally is part of the national 2008 Public Square Rosary Crusade, sponsored by America Needs Fatima, which is planning 3,000 rallies across the country. “Human efforts to solve America’s problems are failing,” the organization states on its website. “We must turn to God for real solutions.”
The America Needs Fatima website lists 45 Hawaii participants or rally captains across Oahu and on Kauai, Maui and the Big Island.
Hawaii organizer Valerie Elefante went to the mainland this summer to help build participation for the event across the country. She hopes that by Oct. 11, there will be 30 sites in Hawaii.
The Hawaii rosaries will be held at all kinds of places including Blaisdell Park in Pearl City, under the banyan tree across the street from St. Elizabeth church in Aiea, in front of St. Philomena Church in Salt Lake, at Kailua Beach Park and at the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku.
A separately organized public rosary, commemorating the anniversary of the last apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, will also be held on Oct. 13 in Thomas Square in Honolulu, beginning with an assembly at 2:30 p.m. followed by a procession and coronation, the chanted chaplet of Divine Mercy and concluding with the rosary at 3:20 p.m. The last Fatima apparition was Oct. 13, 1917.
