An alarming number of Catholic universities are bowing to the homosexual revolution's latest demand: gender-neutral or "transgender" bathrooms on campus.
So-called gender-neutral restrooms have been reportedly allowed or installed at Boston College, Creighton University, Fairfield University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Marquette University, Santa Clara University, the University of San Francisco and the University of Scranton.
Get ready. The distinction between male and female is considered a new form of "bigotry." After defacing the holy institution of marriage in the Obergefell vs. Hodges decision, the homosexual movement is now enforcing the "T" of its transgender acronym, which constantly evolves and expands. The latest version is LGBTTQQIAAP. Don't ask what they all mean. In sum, transgenderism aims to abolish male-female distinctions altogether, one bathroom at a time.
However, the decision to adopt trans-gender restrooms by Catholic universities is a direct slap in the face of our Creator, because God should be honored -- not insulted -- in these halls of higher learning. But when feckless administrators serve the world rather than God, the outcome is predictable. The truth is abandoned, the Faith is betrayed, biological reality based on sound science is even brushed aside and Catholic students are left to fend for themselves.
Why are Catholic universities pandering to this self-destructive agenda? Why aren't these same Catholic universities embracing their mission to proclaim the sublime truths of the Faith, highlighting the virtues of purity and chastity which are the remedy to the sexual revolution as well as a powerful safeguard to halt the breakdown of the family?
Gender Theory Goes Against God and His Church
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states unequivocally:
Man and woman have been created, which is to say, willed by God: on the one hand, in perfect equality as human persons; on the other, in their respective beings as man and woman. ‘Being man’ or ‘being woman’ is a reality which is good and willed by God … In their ‘being-man’ and ‘being-woman,’ they reflect the Creator’s wisdom and goodness.Furthermore, in his address to the Roman Curia in 2012, Pope Benedict XVI cautioned the Catholic world against the blatant evils of gender theory:
"The profound falsehood of this theory and of the anthropological revolution contained within it is obvious. People dispute the idea that they have a nature, given by their bodily identity, that serves as a defining element of the human being. They deny their nature and decide that it is not something previously given to them, but that they make it for themselves.
"According to the biblical creation account, being created by God as male and female pertains to the essence of the human creature. This duality is an essential aspect of what being human is all about, as ordained by God. This very duality as something previously given is what is now disputed. The words of the creation account: “male and female he created them” (Gen 1:27) no longer apply. ... Man and woman in their created state as complementary versions of what it means to be human are disputed. But if there is no pre-ordained duality of man and woman in creation, then neither is the family any longer a reality established by creation."
Continues Benedict XVI: "... And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears. Whoever defends God is defending man."1
In 2015, The Most Rev. Rudolf Voderholzer, Bishop of Regensburg, Germany stated that “the essence of man and woman is the potential to become a father and the potential to become a mother, respectively. These are not exchangeable roles, but rather gifts from the Creator, and, in the last instance, a calling.” Gender theory, he declared, “is the repudiation of the order of creation.”2
Medical Expert: Transgenderism is a "Mental Disorder"
Dr. Paul R. McHugh, Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, affirmed in The Wall Street Journal that transgenderism is a “mental disorder” that warrants real treatment and that sex changes, from a medical standpoint, are “biologically impossible.”
Dr. McHugh's analysis of scientific evidence lead him to stop allowing sex-reassignment surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital already in the 1970s, when he was psychiatrist-in-chief of the prestigious institution.
"Transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men. All (including Bruce Jenner) become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they 'identify,'" wrote Dr. McHugh.
"The idea that one’s sex is fluid and a matter open to choice runs unquestioned through our culture and is reflected everywhere in the media, the theater, the classroom, and in many medical clinics. It has taken on cult-like features... It is doing much damage to families, adolescents, and children and should be confronted as an opinion without biological foundation wherever it emerges," Dr. McHugh stated.3
Oppose the 'Jennerization' of Catholic Campuses
"The decision to mainstream the homosexual agenda on some Catholic campuses offends God and constitutes a grave scandal," said TFP Student Action Director, John Ritchie.
"If we recall Our Lord’s sacred words, scandal is no light matter. 'Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea'" (Matt 18:6).
"TFP Student Action invites its members and web site readers to peacefully voice their firm opposition against what can be called the 'Jennerization' of Catholic higher education," Ritchie continued. "Those who remain faithful must rally around the eternal and unchanging truth, hold fast to the traditional Magisterium of Holy Mother Church and renew their unshakable confidence in Our Lord's promise: The gates of Hell will never, never prevail!"
